Dr. Beto Vasquez: A Story of Hope and Help!

“I GREW UP IN SAN DIEGO AND WENT THROUGH A ROUGH FEW YEARS WHERE I WAS BOTH HOMELESS AND INCARCERATED, AND THEN I WAS STEERED TOWARDS SAN DIEGO CITY COLLEGE.

AT CITY COLLEGE, I BECAME PART OF A FAMILY AND QUICKLY MADE FRIENDS IN THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT WAS AFFORDABLE FOR ME TO ATTEND.

I WENT ON TO GRADUATE FROM BOTH CITY COLLEGE AID UCSD. MOTIVATED BY MY FAMILY AND PROFESSORS I CONTINUED AND EARNED MY DOCTORAL DEGREE AT SDSU.

TODAY, WHEN I WORK WITH STUDENTS AT UCSD, I'M REFERRED TO AS DR. BETO VASQUEZ, AND THIS MOTIVATES ME THAT MUCH MORE TO HELP STUDENTS FIND HOPE.”
